How to write effective emails

I came across some very useful ideas about writing emails. They are:

- start of each paragraph with a leading sentence which describes the core of the message. For example, if there is a decision, recommendation etc that you want to highlight, say that first before getting into the rationale for it

- use bullets to make some quick points. This will help increase white space in the email,. White spaces help with readability and are visually more appealing

- Plan before writing the email. Plan should answer the question as to what the reader of the email will be thinking and be interested in

- Be mindful that people are reading emails on their smartphones as well as laptops

- Use "You" whenever you have an opportunity. This will help your reader visualize himself as the center of the email

- Be brief.

- Be mindful of the tone of the email and not just the content

Hope this is helpful
